Date of publication: 28.06.2013

The main goal of the publication is to provide major data on tourism in Małopolskie voivodship, collected by public statistics. Prevailing part of the publication consists of tables elaborated on the basis of the CSO survey conducted on forms KT-1, presenting state, structure and occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments in 2012. These data have been run by voivodship, subregions, powiats, and selected basic information — by gminas.
The basic subject matter is supplemented by information coming from:
− the CSO statistical survey concerning the activity of museums and institutions related to museums (a report K-02),
− departmental surveys of following organizations: PTTK (the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society), GOPR (the Volunteer Mountain Rescue Service) and TOPR (the Volunteer Tatra-Mountain Rescue Service),
− non-statistical sources provided by different institutions.
The elaboration is published in the series “Statistical information and elaborations” — it consists of methodological notes, descriptive part and tabular part. Methodological notes include sources of data, methods of surveys as well as major definitions.
The descriptive part characterises state, structure, distribution and occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments. The tabular part begins with a review table containing the most important data on tourist accommodation establishments in the years 2010-2012.
Since 2012 the scope of presented data has been changed. Collective and private accommodation establishments are presented jointly as tourist accommodation establishments. For comparison of phenomena some data for the years 2010 and 2011 were corrected in relation to those published before.
Apart from numeric tables describing tourist boarding facilities of the Małopolskie voivodship, the tabular part contains also data on:
− the activity of PTTK, GOPR, TOPR, WOPR (the Volunteer Water Rescue Service),
− rafting on the Dunajec and Poprad rivers,
− tourism in national parks,
− so-called cultural tourism within the confines of the activity of museums.
